Current Projects

Youth Empowerment Through Vocational Training Programs

Category: Youth Empowerment, Humanitarian Support

Training programs equip young people with practical skills, from farming to engineering, to improve employability and self-reliance. We also help graduates find job placements and/or start micro businesses.

For example, we have a 6-month training program in which young people can learn to install solar panels for 4 days/week and spend 1 day doing practical work in local clinics under the mentorship of a trained engineer.

What is needed: Funds for student stipends and course supplies. Experts to provide training and mentorship.

The Royals Bafut Ecovillage Project

Category: Community Development, Sustainable Development

This ongoing community-led initiative focuses on building a community hub to promote sustainable living practices, train young people, and organise cultural events to preserve the rich local heritage. In the construction phase, we set up the core infrastructure (water, sanitation, electricity), using local labour and primarily locally sourced building materials (clay, bamboo, grass, eucalyptus woods).

What is needed: Funds for acquiring building materials, setting up infrastructure systems (water and electricity), and paying skilled trainers.

Sustainable Livelihoods Through Ginger Production

Category: Sustainable Development, Humanitarian Support

This project aims to create jobs for the Nchum community in growing and processing ginger. We also support the packing and selling of ginger, both as a raw material and as a processed product (essential oil), so that participants can earn a living from their involvement in the production.

What is needed: Funds for acquiring disease-free ginger rhizomes (to start the crop at a lower risk) and for buying and setting up solar dryers and other processing tools (to add value to the end products).

Sustainable Livelihoods Through Corn Production

Category: Youth Empowerment, Community Development

This project supports communities such as Njibeeh and Mfota in producing, storing, and marketing corn crops. It aims to train women to operate grinding machines, reducing processing time and increasing storage capacity, thereby guaranteeing a better income from this crop for vulnerable and displaced groups.

What is needed: Funds for buying reliable seeds, improving soil fertility, setting up drip irrigation where needed, securing storage, and having machines to process corn to keep it from spoilage.

Indigenous Storytelling Events

Category: Community Development

Regular events where community members share stories, myths, and legends through oral tradition, music, and dance.

What is needed: A kit for each community project, which includes a smartphone, mic, tripod, power bank, memory cards, external hard drive, notebooks and consent forms. For a live event, a venue with seating and lighting options is needed.

Community Health Initiatives

Category: Youth Empowerment, Humanitarian Support

Youth and the Future run initiatives that support vulnerable communities with healthcare services and sanitation education. In the past, we had facilitated digital access to healthcare services, including telemedicine and health information systems. Currently, there is a plan to build a facility where minor injuries and illnesses can be treated, and more serious cases can be stabilised before transfer to a larger centre.

What is needed: Funds for staffing and supplies.

‘Back-To-School’ Initiative

Category: Community Development, Humanitarian Support

This project aims to remove the barriers that keep vulnerable children (orphans, internally displaced, child-headed households, kids from very low-income families) out of school. We do all we can so that marginalised children can attend school regularly and have the opportunities to continue learning at home and in the community.

What is needed: Funds for learning materials at school and safe study space with electricity within the community.
